Dubs the Sustainable Footwear Brand for Kids

Sustainability is no longer just a buzzword, it’s a way of thinking that has become increasingly important for the future of our planet, future generations and is the basis for everything here at The Healthy Parent. Although most decisions regarding sustainability, whether it’s shopping, recycling or modes of transport come down to us as adults and parents it’s really important that we discus these decisions with our children where possible and teach them about sustainable living from an early age. A great way to do this is by introducing them to brands they will love that represent the morals and life choices you, as a family, are proud to be a part of, brands such as Dubs.

Dubs sustainable footwear

Dubs is a children’s footwear brand that combines playful, stylish designs with a commitment to sustainability. Rather than creating shoes designed to be replaced after a few months, Dubs focuses on producing footwear that’s built to last whilst also being kinder to the planet.

All the Dubs trainers are

  • Crazy comfy
  • Kids foot shaped
  • Designed to last
  • Machine washable
  • Use less energy and have a lower CO2 footprint than standard trainers
  • Sent out in 100% recycled packaging

Our review of the Dubs Flex

Dubs currently offer two types of trainers, the Flex that slip on and the Glide’s that have Velcro fasteners. We were sent a pair of the flex to try out for our 6 year old in grey size 11, although they are also available in black, marshmallow (light pink) and midnight blue and in sizes 6-1.

From the moment they arrived I was impressed. I loved the packaging, the brown tube with fun designs sketched across it makes it look exciting before you’ve even opened them up. Obviously being a sustainable brand the packaging is made from 100% recycled cardboard but when it looks as cool as this it also means you want to keep it and reuse it too.

Once we got the flex trainers out of the box we could tell straight away that they were great quality. They feel sturdy without being heavy, striking a nice balance between durability and comfort. The materials are soft to touch yet also feel robust and our daughter couldn’t wait to try them on.

The Dubs Flex trainers are designed to slip right on but I wasn’t convinced our little girl would be able to do this with ease herself but she absolutely could and I love that they don’t have laces that will slow us down on days out or run the risk of tripping her up when she’s running around with her friends.

As soon as she had them on she said how comfy they were and as most parents know, it’s all about comfort with younger children and how willing they are to actually wear something that matters. The Dubs Flex trainers very quickly and easily passed that test and I think this largely comes down to how much movement she has in them.

One of the other standout features of the Dubs trainers is their versatility. They can be worn with almost anything, especially if you opt for the black or the grey. We’ve already paired them with shorts, leggings and dresses, and would happily put the with her jeans and trousers in winter too.

Overall we are really impressed with the Dubs Flex trainers. We like the style, the comfort, the durability and the sustainability and truly believe that investing in trainers for children that can handle everyday wear means they stay looking good for longer, reducing the need for frequent replacements. This not only saves money over time but also helps reduce waste, an important part of living more sustainably and when the time does come that your child has outgrown their Dubs you can get in touch and sell them on their preloved site.

If you want to introduce your children to sustainable brands they will love then we can recommend Dubs for footwear.
