Tilda Launches Healthy Kids Meals

As parents, we all want the same thing at dinnertime: food our children will actually eat, that nourishes their growing bodies, and doesn’t take an hour to prepare after a long day. Balancing health, flavour and convenience can feel like an impossible task, especially when life is busy and energy is low. That’s why the launch of Tilda Taste Travellers feels like a genuinely helpful step forward for families who want to live a healthier lifestyle without sacrificing time or taste.

What Are Tilda Taste Travellers?

Tilda Taste Travellers are a new range of rice based meals that have been designed in collaboration with leading children’s dietitian Lucy Upton and aimed specifically at children. Each meal comes in its own pouch which can be heated up in the microwave in 60 seconds and then enjoyed on its own or as part of a meal.

Each meal combines fluffy Tilda rice with two portions of vegetables and gentle, globally inspired flavours. They are low in salt, and provide a good source of protein and fibre.

You can choose from

  • Pesto & Pea Risotto
  • Mild Thai Green Curry
  • Japanese Katsu Curry
  • Mexican Rice Bowl

Why Early Food Experiences Matter

Lucy Upton explains that prioritising nutrient-dense foods like beans and vegetables was key in developing the Taste Travellers range. Just as importantly, she highlights how exposure to new flavours can support children in enjoying a wider variety of family foods over time.

In other words, these meals aren’t just about convenience they’re about helping children build healthy habits that last and helping parents offer up tasting opportunities without having to spend a fortune on ingredients and hours in the kitchen.

Our Review

On first impressions I love the bold colours and the pictures of mini explores on the packaging, it makes them look child friendly, exciting and appealing to children straight from the off.

We are already familiar with Tilda Rice pouches and so the fact these are as easy to use and convenient is a great win in our house as we have 3 children and lots of after school activities so evening meals have to be quick, tasty and nutritious, not to mention filling, which isn’t always easy.

Taste and Texture

The flavours in these packets are milder than if you made them yourself but not too mild that they taste bland or like kids meals, they are a great introduction to new flavours and personally I loved the Japanese Katsu Curry just as much as my 6 year old.

The Mexican Rice Bowl has a comforting warmth from smoked paprika, while the Pesto & Pea Risotto feels creamy and familiar, making it a great option for children who prefer classic flavours. The Mild Thai Green Curry and Japanese Katsu Curry offer a lovely introduction to more aromatic foods, without heat or sharpness.

Overall we loved the Tilda Taste Travellers range and we will definitely be buying some more when we go shopping and recommending them to others. Home cooked meals full of vegetables are always the first choice but life rarely allows for that so these pouches are a great alternative, quick, convenient, healthy and delicious, what more could you want?
