New Forest Fruit Snacks | Review

Trying to get your child to eat fruit is, admittedly, easier than getting them to eat vegetables, but it can still be a struggle, especially when it comes to packed lunches. If your child is anything like mine then you will probably have a rouge apple that starts off on a Monday heading to school in the lunch box and is still there on the Friday looking rather worse for wear! Which is why I was intrigued to try out the New Forest Fruit Snacks.

What are New Forest Fruit Snacks?

New Forest Fruit Snacks are pouches of dried fruit that have been made from ‘wonky’ and misshapen strawberries and raspberries that would otherwise be destined for food waste. They have been created through the innovative food technology process of pulse drying, meaning they keep their original nutrition, shape, colour and aroma while losing over 90% of their weight which significantly extending the shelf life of each fruit.

Each packet of the New Forest Fruit Snacks are

  • one of your five-a-day
  • packed with vitamins
  • vegan friendly
  • low in calories
  • gluten free.

Our review of the New Forest Fruit Snacks

There are currently two New Forest Fruit Snacks available, strawberry and raspberry and we were lucky enough to test both. We found that both were great but we all preferred the raspberries as they were a touch sweeter and just a little bit different. However, both were a hit with the adults and the kids alike.

As a mum I think these are great for lunch boxes, no more complaints that the fruit is too soggy/warm/bashed etc by the time they get to eat it at dinner time, plus it looks more like a packet of crisps than a piece of fruit and even has the same kind of crunch and the ability to share with their mates that they like too, yet it counts as 1 of their 5 a day making it the perfect swap.

I also think these are fab for snacking on the go at weekends too, especially with our busy lives of football tournaments and gymnastic events. Again it means no bashed or warm fruit but a delicious and healthy snack that they can enjoy and I don’t feel guilty about. I was also impressed with how, despite them being freeze dried and seemingly delicate, the didn’t all get crushed in the packs every time we went out, no matter how many times the kids seemed to throw their bags and lunch boxes around!

If you’re looking for a new way of getting your kids (or you) to eat some fruit then the New Forest Fruit Snacks are definitely worth a try – you can even add them to your gin if you want!
